A Day in the Life

Here we are having a sleep over on the porch last night.  We brought our blankets and teddy bears from our beds inside.

Here we are eating breakfast this morning.

And playing dolls.  I have my yellow bear and the pig; Anya is playing with her bear and the alien.

And we have a new toy, a very big ball.  That's it in the corner between the food box and me.

And a chain of green balls to go around our porch cushions.

And here we are ready for morning prayers with Sarah.

Our Library

Far and away my favorite, and Anya's second favorite, activity is reading.  (Anya listed her favorite activity as hanging out with me! :) )  Sarah understands our love for books--she shares it herself, in fact--so she makes books for us whenever she can.  Already we are collecting quite the library! We get our books in different dimensions because we are different dimensions, but Sarah insists that we swap books back and forth.  Here are pictures of us with our books.

Because I am writing the blog, Anya got the honor of having her picture taken first.  In fact, one book of hers is missing from this picture.  That is because I am borrowing it; it was on my bed under my teddy bear; Sarah didn't see it and forgot.  Titles of Anya's books include By the Shores of Silver Lake, Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, and Little Town on the Prairie in the top row; Anne of Green Gables, Five Children and It, and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in the middle row; and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Black Beauty, and Little House on the Prairie  in the bottom row.  Except for our dictionaries, which stay always on top, we move our books to the bottom of our piles as we finish them; we are swapping the Little House series back and forth right now, and Little House on the Prairie is the only book of her own that Anya has completed and I am not borrowing.  (She is currently reading By the Shores of Silver Lake, hence the green bookmark.  I have one too.)

More From Today

Here Anya and I are reading on Sarah's bed.  I am reading The Two Princesses of Bamarre, and Anya is reading Little House on the Prairie.  Also in the picture are a novel, a yarmulke, Sarah's journal and her cell phone.

This is our porch with the new floor cushions Sarah made for it last night.  We have three: one for each of us and one for a guest rock, should someone come to visit.

There is only one picture for today.  Behold: Anya and me eating breakfast.  Anya is small enough that we can share the food box, an added bonus in Sarah's eyes.  Now she doesn't have to make another one.

Lots Going On

This is a picture of me in the bigger room that Sarah moved me to.  I needed space to turn around, and a sibling was becoming a real possibility, so we moved me to a larger box.  In this picture, you see my bed, stack of books, and teddy bear in one corner; the food box in another corner; the bathroom in a third corner; and the marbles rolling around.

Here I am reading on my bed.  Next to me is my stack of books and teddy bear; across the room is the bathroom.

This is a better shot of the whole room, with me rolling a marble around in the middle of the floor.

Here I am reading a book on the rooftop porch.  We have a porch because the lid of the box is attached.  Left to itself, it slopes when opened, but propped level, it makes a great outdoor/indoor room.

The biggest news of the day is that I have a sister! Sarah brought her back from the creek this morning.  Her name is Anya Rochelle.

Anya and me playing ball on the roof.  Sarah gave us two more toys, a little pink pig and this orange ball, when Anya came.  The only toys we do not have to share are our teddy bears; we even have to let the other sister borrow books if she asks!

Here we are in our new and improved home.  The empty corner is now taken up by Anya's bed.  The bathroom has walls at the ends and a swinging door across it.  We have more food, because we are now sharing the food box, and the toys mentioned above.  There are even pictures on the walls.  Sarah is also planning to make a row of cushions for the porch.

My New Home

Greetings, World! My name is Amber Rose.  I am a pet rock belonging to a young woman named Sarah, who rescued me yesterday from the creek near her home.  I was originally just supposed to be a souvenir from her walk, but it didn't take her long to decide to make me into a pet.  Today she spent a couple hours making me a home where I can be comfortable when she does not want me.  Here is the photo story.

This is a picture of me on the rug in Sarah's bedroom.  If you look carefully, you can see that my natural markings sort of give me a face.

This is the box we selected for my home.  It is smallish, but it has high sides to keep me safe and a lid for when I need to travel.

The first thing Sarah did was to cut some sheets of white paper down to size and set them in the bottom.  This will make clean up much easier.

A rock can't stare at blank walls all day! Here I am watching Sarah draw murals for my walls.

The finished pictures.  There is a puzzle in rainbow colors, a big pink tulip, a house on a hill with a tree nearby, and a series of colored circles.

The following four  pictures show the murals hung up on my walls.  The flash at close range messed up the colors; my apologies.  In any case, first we have the tulip...

Here I am with my food box.   Those snipped-up bits of yarn are what I eat.  The brown-and-blue ones are my typical daily diet.  The pink ones are treats; I get them on special occasions.  Sarah gave me two to celebrate moving in.

 

And here is my bed.  I chose the bedding from Sarah's scrap box.  The corner of the bed and the corner of the food box leave only a very small corridor to my "bathroom," meaning I have to turn I my side and snake through.

This is a shot of my whole room, with the camera looking down from above.  There wasn't much space left for toys, so we focused on what was most important: a teddy bear to snuggle at bedtime, two marbles (which will probably get used more outside my room), and a little purpler alien, because Sarah and I both felt that something was missing and this was what we could find.

Here I am in my room, facing away from the food box.  As I said, a bit snug, but Sarah and I are proud of it nonetheless.
